Question: Early 2000's - guy babysits friend-girls kid. he lives with some weird roomates

This girl, she's very irresponsible leaves her child with her friend who
has something wrong with him. He doesn't speak much. He says yes because he
has a crush on her. He had a couple of weird roommates 2 or 3 guys that
live with him. They were weird but kind. They paid rent.  There was
something about eating breakfast together... the child eventually gets the
guy to talk and actually like him...
