Question: time travel back to ancient Egypt - King Tut exhibit (1970s)

Asked by sammy on Fri 27, Apr 2012 11:48am :
Back when I was a kid in the 70's, my family went to the King Tut exhibit
at the Met. We bought a children's book at the museum store that had
detailed illustrations (NOT photos)--some quite gory and explicit--about
life in ancient Egypt. My brother tells me it was about a time traveller
who went back, but I don't remember that part. They illustrated what
happened when the pharoah died (removal of organs and brains and salting
the body) and if you were a slave and did something wrong, your hands would
be chopped off (showing the dismembered hands). Needless to say, it was
very entertaining and captivating. Anyone remember this book??
