Question: Book from 2000's- girl from a travelling circus finds two brothers from the future

It was a book about a traveling circus. Specifically about a girl in the
circus (I don't recall her performance, but she was a good bowman) who
found some boys in the woods. Two brothers. the younger connected and
understood things (for example, she shot an arrow at a tree and the boy
felt the same pain as the tree did) and the older could not, but he (I
don't remember the circumstances which lead to this, maybe a spider bite?)
was gradually transforming into something reptilian. The traveling circus
was due for a show, so was traveling fast. Along the way they found an
ancient underground library and needed to fight off a lake monster. The
boys are trying to prevent the rise of an evil dictator from their time. At
the end we find out that the dictator was actually the elder brother. They
hadn't recognized him because he had completed the transportation into a
reptilian being, becoming more aggressive and inhumanly powerful all the
while. Do you know what this book is called???
