Question: book between 1998-2004ish..wife uses insurance scam to murder spouse and sets up friend

books starts with someone fishing and landing a body. husband can control
breathing and decide to fake his death using controlled breathing and scuba
tanks for air. wife leaves him in the ground to die. sets up his alcoholic
best friend to take the fall if things go wrong/ witch they do. the wife
seduces the best friend. a rough sub-character realizes her lies and
blackmails her for lovin but she burns his house down. he has the wifes
husband in a freezer and then moves into a school bus. she throws away
arson evidence into the local swamp?... the tide carries it away only to
bring it back later where the best friend finds it knowing the tide
returns.           missing some facts naturally but this book has been
driving me absolutely insane trying to remember the name. if anyone has any
idea PLEASE TELL ME!!!! thank you for taking the time to read my broken
description.
