Question: childrens book from the 90's about a little puppy PLEASE HELP

I know this may be random but i am tryin to remember the name of a book i
had when i was about 5 lol?
It was about a wee brown puppy that was left outside alone at christmas
time i think the cover showed him walking about in the snow and if i
remember correctly he was a wee stray dog and it seen him walkin by a pet
shop with loads of other dogs in the window and at the end he is rescued by
a little girl who brings him into live with her and it shows him in the
house with the christmas tree and all the presents?? Not very much
information but im just tryin to remember what it was to try and get a copy
for my daughter! I had this book about 15/16 years ago or around that time.
I feel old now lol

Could you be thinking of "The Puppy Who Wanted a Boy" by Jane Thayer?

It takes place at Christmas, and the cover (of the hardcover edition
illustrated by Lisa McCue) shows a shaggy little brown puppy outside in the
snow.

i think you could be right i searched it and the front cover didnt ring
a bell but found another copy on ebay i think could be it, im goin to
check the library now make sure its it. thank you so much xx
